Shop with a Teacher
Oro Valley Police Department, Fraternal Order of Police to host annual Shop With a Teacher Event
Oro Valley, Arizona (August 19, 2015) – For the 11th consecutive year, the Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 53 (FOP) will partner for the annual “Shop with a Teacher” event. This year’s event will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Oro Valley Target, located at 10555 N. Oracle Road.
Nine private and public schools in Oro Valley will each be given $200 by the FOP to purchase supplies for the current school year. This program aims to supplement classroom supplies so teachers do not pay out of their own pockets. Educating our children and keeping them safe remain top priorities for the Oro Valley Police Department, as demonstrated by this event and OVPD’s nationally recognized School Resource Officers Unit.
This year the Greater Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce will provide each teacher with a $40 OV Dollars gift card. “Our Chamber and the business community are pleased to help teachers defray their classroom expenses with an Oro Valley Dollars gift card. It’s the least we can do to show support for teachers, who nurture young minds into tomorrow’s thinkers,” said Dave Perry, President/CEO of the Greater Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce.
The OV Dollars program operates much like a regular gift card, but instead of only being able to use it at one retailer, shoppers can swipe their card at any of the 86 participating businesses in Oro Valley
